Haven of Rest
The Inn is next to Riverwalk Park with its walking/jogging trail, green lawns and mature trees, all in the heart of Chelan. It is only two blocks to the public beach, restaurants, shopping, museum and art gallery. Riverwalk Pavilion is across the street, with some evening concerts.

We have a quiet, clean and comfortable home-like atmosphere. A full hot breakfast is included at no charge and includes Dirty Eggs (eggs with cheese and bacon bits) and Gunshot Potatoes (galley fries). The refreshment window serves hand-scooped Tillamook ice cream, good enough for the Captain's table.

Ahoy Mate,
Welcome aboard! Book your passage at the Riverwalk Inn, and we will show you to your sea cabin. The ship's company will keep your berthing area tidy, so you can take the rest of the day off!

But don't look for your room number. All the berthing areas are named for seagoing men and the places they rest. You could be in the Admiral's Suite, the Commander, the Lieutenant, or maybe the Bunk Room.

A landscape of memorabilia and functional naval artifacts will greet you. Learn about the shipboard jobs of the sailors as you read posted information in your room. Get the flavor of an old-time boarding house at the Riverwalk Inn, and enjoy the Poop Deck for conversation and refreshments.

Chelan is a great liberty port. After your recent deployment to the treacherous waters of Suburbia and Commuterdom, you will be ready for relaxed fun. Stretch your sea legs with a walk around the one-mile path which encircles the waterfront and begins right in front of the Riverwalk Inn. Cross the street for your daily grog ration and to hear the scuttlebutt of the day. Aye, mate, the Riverwalk Inn is waiting for you when your watch is done. Let us help you stow your gear and commence a well-deserved liberty!

About the Riverwalk Inn...
Built in approximately 1918, the Riverwalk Inn has been in operation as a hotel or motel for nearly a century. On May 1, 2001, we puchased the motel and massive renovation began.

The Riverwalk Inn is the ultimate recycling project. As the old motel was torn apart, the materials were recycled wherever possible into the new product. Nails were pulled in used lumber, fixtures were cleaned and used where possible and functional appliances were given away. Even the dirt removed from the crawl spaces was recycled into the outside landscaping.

Riverwalk Inn has 14 rooms available with a broad spectrum of room choices. A commercial kitchen provides quality full hot breakfasts and eventually will provide other meals as arranged( winter 2005/2006). An outside fenced courtyard allows for a peaceful and relaxing experience. A BBQ grill and picnic table affords an alternative to Chelan's dining options. A refreshment window on the Riverwalk Park serves a full array of soft drinks and Tillamook ice cream cones, shakes and floats.

We are available for family reunions and group retreats of all types. Enjoy yourself!

Skipper's Corner

We welcome you aboard the Riverwalk Inn, in Chelan Washington, where we have installed a distinct seagoing feel to your port call in Chelan. As a veteran of 23 years in the U. S. Naval Submarine Force, it has been my pleasure to plow the briny deep of the world's oceans and to visit many foreign seaports.

I served as Assistant Engineer and Weapons Officer in the Commissioning Crew of USS Bergall (SSN 667), Navigator aboard USS Guardfish (SSN 612), Executive Officer aboard USS Billfish (SSN 676), and Commanding Officer of USS Ulysses S. Grant (SSBN 631) (Gold). All my sea service occurred during the Cold War.

Retiring to Lake Chelan in 1990, we raised three young 'uns in the remote mountain village of Stehekin, and then moved to Chelan in 1997 for their high school years. On May 1, 2001, we took on the significant challenge of renovating a small hotel in the center of downtown, and the upgrade continues. Our goal for you is a clean berth, great hospitality and wonderful access to a beautiful area. We adopted a naval theme because the Navy was our life for many years. We have named our rooms after seagoing sailors and berthing locations on ships. You might find yourself in the Admiral's Suite, the Goat Locker, or the Brig. We have several naval artifacts at the Inn and some are peculiar to the local area.

We recycled as many materials and products removed during the renovation as possible, and nothing was sent to the landfill which could be incorporated in the rebuilt structure. Many of our improvements are custom made and tailored to the site. I have been the planner and tradesman for repairs to the Riverwalk Inn.

Along the way, I have been ably assisted by three local friends. Very little work has been contracted out. Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce awarded Riverwalk Inn the Beautification Award for 2002, and we are eager to win your approval as well.

Both the hotel and the Sandbar Espresso will be closed for the winter from October 1, 2006, until March 4, 2007. We will reopen again on Monday March 5th, with expanded business to include a public breakfast service in our Dolphin Dining Room. Office hours for reservations during open period of March through September will be 1000-1800 hours (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.).

Mary is my First Mate of 33 years and joins me in saying Come aboard!

No Smoking and No Pets!
Ahoy, mate!
